Meetings Update

As we all know, living in the great state of Missouri can be a challenge when it comes to inclement weather and meetings.  To align with the new BC ARES policy, D.A.R.K. meetings will be conducted via a phone conference dial-in system for the months of January and February.  We will make a decision on March’s meeting as it draws closer and we have a better idea of how the weather is acting at that time.

Once we have settled on a (FREE) conferencing service, we will email the information to existing members.

At the November meeting tomorrow, we will be discussing the December Christmas Party and meeting, along with the next steps for D.A.R.K.  We will also be discussing the first broadcast from one of the four dams in our area in the Spring. 

I have submitted our proposal to the US Army Corps of Engineers to determine if there are any rules and regulations we need to adhere to when operating near their dams.  I will be following up with them over the next few months to get their permission to work with them for special event stations during key dates regarding their dams.

I manage the BC MO CERT FB group and webpage. I am Net Control for the Region A Healthcare Net. This is a net which tests the amateur radio backup communications system for healthcare facilities in MO Region A once per month. I have completed both online and in-seat SKYWARN training, as well as Radar Fundamentals and I am Spotter #4 for the Lake Area Storm Spotters. I hold the following FEMA certifications: IS-0029, IS-0042, IS-100b, IS-120, IS-200b, IS-230, IS-235b, IS-240, IS-241, IS-242, IS-244, ICS-300, IS-317, ICS-400, IS-700a, and IS-800b. I have completed the ARRL EC-001 course and completed CPR/AED/First Aid training for adults/children/infants on March 3, 2018. I have also completed WebEOC, Damage Assessment training, and the Emergency Management Director's Academy through MO SEMA.
