President’s Blog

Given the success of the Emergency Coordinator Blog on the BC ARES website, I am implementing the Club President Blog here!  This is a way for the existing president to update the members of the club on his/her activities pertaining to the club.

Hello, my D.A.R.K.lings and all visitors!

We’ve had some great participation for the planning of our second event. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the help!!! So far, we have Rex, Stephen, Terry, Sandy, Kelly, Renee, Roger, and myself as operators/loggers.

I want to give a couple of special recognition “Atta Boys!” right here. Stephen Swerline is now adding an additional mode to our SE by being the only true CW operator in the club and event! Kelly Stanfield, our beloved visually impaired ham, is participating with us in her very first SE as an operator! Roger Henley is going to go fishing for some digital contacts for the first time for our club! Rex Green has made the extra effort to include some of our blue-sky partners up at the Sedalia-Pettis Amateur Radio Klub! Renee and Alex Cason are our youths involved in various ways with the event! Sandy and Terry Crane are participating in their very first SE as operators! I can’t thank these amazing club members enough for their joyful and helpful attitudes as we move forward with the event!

Without further ado, let’s get on with the updates!

Here is the certificate chosen for the PdT SE:

So far, the only ones attending the in-person, opening day of the event (November 16) at Pomme de Terre are myself and Renee (with Foxtrot!); same with the final day (November 23). If you would like to come out and participate onsite with us, let me know!

The remainder of the time and location of operations will be from our members homes. Please let me know which radio you will be using and your QTH for possible use about the event at a later date.

The updates have been made to the band plan as discussed at the meeting.

More information will follow as I have updates for you!

Hello, my D.A.R.K.lings and all visitors!

I am already deep in the planning phase of the upcoming special event for Pomme de Terre (or as Renee calls it “Potato Dam”) and I can’t wait to start rolling out information to the club and the public.

There are so many small things to get in line before the event. It’s amazing how many little decisions have to be made!

My hope is that this event will be even bigger than the one we had in July for Truman Dam.

Message me if you want to help with ANY aspect of the event!
